Tesla just put a Tesla Balance Bike on its online shop for $225. The pedal-free trainer targets kids ages 2 to 5. And the first batch sold out almost as soon as it went live.

So this is not the adult e-bike fans have begged for. Instead, Tesla is selling a magnesium kids balance bike with the brand wordmark and front T logo. Early orders should ship in late August. For now, restock alerts are the only path for most buyers.

What the Tesla Balance Bike includes

Tesla lists a lightweight magnesium frame, a five-way adjustable seat, and the hardware you need for assembly. There is no motor and no drivetrain. Toddlers push along with their feet. That is how balance bikes teach coordination before pedals enter the picture.

Official fit guidance is strict for a small rider. Tesla calls for a minimum leg length of 13.7 inches. The recommended rider weight sits around 66 pounds, with a structural max near 77 pounds. That puts the bike in the toddler and preschool lane.

Price check: premium, not absurd

At $225, the Tesla Balance Bike sits at the high end of the category. Plenty of solid balance bikes sell for well under $100. However, premium magnesium models from brands like Woom already land near this price. You pay for the frame materials and the Tesla logo as much as the ride itself.

That branding play fits Tesla’s wider lifestyle shop push. The company has also sold kid-focused gear before, from toy vehicles to apparel. Alongside the bike, Tesla added a $30 Kids Pedal Power Tee that shows Optimus on a tiny trainer. Meanwhile, parents who track bigger Tesla products will know the same shop stack that sells Model Y accessories.

Why it sold out so fast

Demand for Tesla-branded lifestyle products often outruns supply on day one. Because the listing hit sold-out status quickly, shoppers now wait on restock notices. Still, Tesla says the first wave is set to ship in late August once units clear fulfillment.

Context matters for EV households too. If you already own a Tesla Model Y Long Wheelbase, a branded trainer is an easy impulse add. By contrast, automakers that tried performance e-bikes have hit harder economics. Porsche is shutting down its performance e-bike division, which underlines how niche adult EV two-wheelers remain.

What to know before you waitlist

Treat the Tesla Balance Bike as brand merch with real trainer utility, not a bargain kids bike. Measure your child’s leg length first. Then decide whether the logo premium beats a cheaper magnesium alternative with better parts support.

Also remember this is still a pure human-powered trainer. There is no assist, no app, and no battery. Therefore the value case rests on build quality, adjustability, and how much the Tesla look is worth to you.

For now, the product page is the source of truth for price, sizing, and restock alerts. Check Tesla Shop for availability updates. Avoid third-party resellers that may mark up sold-out inventory.
